Victor Osimhen has been crowned African Footballer of the Year for the second consecutive time at the CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech, cementing his status as the continent’s finest player of his generation.
Osimhen, who scored 31 goals in all competitions for his club and 14 goals for the Super Eagles, beat out competition from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez.
The 25-year-old striker was visibly emotional in his acceptance speech, dedicating the award to his late mother and to the Nigerian people.
Coach Eric Chelle paid tribute to Osimhen’s professionalism and said the forward remained hungry for further individual and collective success.
