Nigeria’s Super Eagles have broken into the FIFA World Rankings top 10 for the first time in the country’s football history, a landmark achievement the Nigeria Football Federation described as fruit of consistent investment in player development.
The Eagles climbed three places to ninth, leapfrogging Morocco, Senegal and Cameroon to become Africa’s highest-ranked national team.
The jump was powered by high-profile victories including a 3-1 defeat of Germany in a friendly and strong AFCON qualifying campaign performances.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau said the ranking milestone would increase Nigeria’s seeding in future tournament draws.
