African athletes produced a stunning display at the Diamond League Finals in Zurich, shattering four world records across sprints, middle distance and field events.
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan set a new world record in the 100 metres hurdles, Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei broke the 10,000 metres mark, Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay smashed the women’s 1500 metres record, and Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon improved her own 5,000 metres world record.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe described the meeting as the night African athletics changed the world.
Sponsorship inquiries for all four athletes have reportedly multiplied tenfold since the records were set.
