The Super Falcons have secured their place at the Olympic Games by successfully defending their Women Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating South Africa 2-0 in the final before a record crowd of 60,000 in Lagos.
Goals from Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade sealed a victory that coach Randy Waldrum described as a masterclass of tactical discipline and attacking flair.
The victory extended Nigeria’s record as the most successful team in WAFCON history, with the Super Falcons now having won the title eleven times.
Oshoala was named player of the tournament after scoring six goals in five matches.
