Veteran Nollywood director Kemi Adetiba has signed a five-year, five-film deal with Netflix valued at $50 million, making her the highest-paid African director in the streaming era.
The deal covers two feature films, one limited drama series and two feature documentaries.
Adetiba said the deal represented an opportunity to tell authentic African stories with the budget and distribution platform they deserved.
Netflix Africa Vice President Ben Amadasun said the investment was consistent with backing proven African talent with resources equivalent to any other market.
