Lagos Art Week Draws Record 200000 Visitors From 68 Countries

The annual Lagos Art Week attracted a record 200,000 visitors from 68 countries over its seven-day run, generating an estimated N12 billion in economic activity for the city.

The week featured exhibitions across 45 galleries, public installations at 12 locations across Lagos and a flagship fair featuring 180 galleries from 34 countries.

Lagos-based artist Ndidi Emefiele sold 23 works during the week for a combined $4.2 million, setting a new record for a Nigerian artist at a single fair.

Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the state government would double its investment in Arts Week infrastructure for the next edition.
