Nigerian e-commerce platforms Konga and Jumia have announced a merger that will create the largest online retail platform in West Africa, combining their customer bases, logistics networks and technology platforms.
The merged entity will serve 12 million active customers, operate 47 warehouses across Nigeria and handle 200,000 orders daily at peak capacity.
Konga CEO Nick Holzherr said the combination made strategic sense at a time when e-commerce penetration in Nigeria was growing rapidly.
Regulatory approval from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is expected within 90 days.
