The Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards has announced the introduction of a Best African Film category at its upcoming edition, reflecting the growing quality and reach of African cinema beyond Nigeria.
Films from Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Senegal and Egypt are among those eligible alongside Nigerian productions.
Multichoice Group CEO Calvo Mawela said the expansion acknowledged that African storytelling had become a genuinely continental phenomenon.
