The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced a six-month continuous voter registration exercise targeting 20 million new registrants, with special focus on young Nigerians between 18 and 25.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu said the drive would deploy mobile registration units to universities, markets and community centres across all 774 local government areas.
The commission has set a target of expanding Nigeria’s voter register from 93 million to over 110 million ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Youth groups and civil society organisations have pledged to mobilise support for the registration drive, citing the critical role young voters played in recent state elections.
