The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismantled a sophisticated armed robbery syndicate operating across Abuja and five neighbouring states, recovering 47 firearms and stolen property valued at over N800 million.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Usman Bello said operatives stormed three gang hideouts simultaneously, arresting 23 suspects and killing two who engaged officers in a firefight.
Among the recovered items were exotic vehicles, jewellery, electronics and cash in multiple currencies.
Police linked the syndicate to at least 34 armed robbery incidents including attacks on a bullion van, three petrol stations and multiple residential burglaries.
