Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar have jointly brokered a ceasefire agreement between warring factions in a conflict that has claimed over 40,000 lives and displaced 5 million people over three years.
The agreement, signed in Riyadh after six weeks of intensive shuttle diplomacy, calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the opening of humanitarian corridors.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the ceasefire as a critical first step and pledged to deploy a monitoring mission within 72 hours.
Analysts cautioned that previous ceasefires in the conflict had collapsed and that a durable peace would require addressing underlying political and resource disputes.
